Finland closed its borders due to coronavirus


The decision to restrict movement across its border since 19 March was taken by the Finnish authorities due to the risk of the spread of COVID-19, according to the website of the Finnish Ministry of the Interior. It is noted that the crossing points will be closed. This decision was adopted in accordance with the Emergency Act, which is in force from 18 March to 13 April. According to the new rules, residents of Finland will be prohibited from leaving their homeland, and only Finnish citizens who are abroad will be able to enter the country. Foreigners who are currently in the territory of the Republic may also leave its territory. As reported news agency, on March 18 because of a new coronavirus the movement of the high-speed trains Allegro and Leo Tolstoy between Finland and Russia was stopped.
