Epidemiological situation in Georgia depends on believers - Tserzvadze
Director of Tbilisi Infectious Hospital Tengiz Tserzwadze called Orthodox believers a decisive factor that will determine the further development of the epidemiological situation in the country. He told about it on April 16 on Pirveli TV channel. "I will say without exaggeration that the scenario of the epidemic in Georgia is in the hands of parishioners," Tserzwadze said. He stressed that he had not yet made such statements. The head of the center also noted that it is necessary to smooth the peak of growth of coronavirus infections in order to reduce the burden on the health care system. According to the news agency, there is a discussion in Georgia regarding the celebration of Easter. The Georgian Orthodox Church (GPC) intends to hold Easter services in most churches with the participation of parishioners. Authorities allowed temples not to be closed to visitors, but urge everyone to stay at Easter at home. Opposition representatives criticize the Government for this and claim that it has made concessions to the GPC, risking the health of the citizens of the country.
