Another fugitive corrupt man surrendered to the Chinese authorities

A high-ranking fugitive former official of the now abolished Ministry of Railways of China, accused of bribery, surrendered to the country's authorities after seven years abroad, Xinhua News Agency reported on June 24. Sixty-year-old Hai Tao fled abroad in January 2013, the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Supervisory Commission said. In March 2014, the People's Prosecutor's Office of Haidian District in Beijing launched an investigation against Hai, who was placed on the Interpol list with a red notice in March 2016. Calling Hai's surrender an important achievement, the Chinese authorities continued their bounty hunt. China intends to deal with all fugitive corrupt officials.
