South Africa updated anti-record on the number of cases of COVID-19 per day

Over the past day, a record number of 13,674 people infected with coronavirus have been identified in the Republic of South Africa since the beginning of the pandemic, South African Health Minister Zweli Mkhize said during a briefing. Thus, the total number of confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infections in the country reached 238,339. Unfortunately, we are reporting 129 more deaths related to COVID-19, Mkhize added. In total, 3,720 people have died from diseases caused by a new coronavirus since the beginning of the pandemic in South Africa. Mkhize also reported on 2 million tests for the detection of coronavirus, conducted in South Africa since the beginning of the pandemic. Over the past day alone, 56,170 infection tests were performed in the country. According to the news agency, by July 8, more than 507 cases of coronavirus of a new type were confirmed in Africa. The countries of the continent most affected by the pandemic are Egypt and South Africa.
