Honda Rides Wave Of New Global Successes on website. The world’s second-largest automaker is aiming to become the largest auto brand by 2021
With a restructuring under way, Honda is becoming more internationally competitive. Back in April, Honda announced that it would close its plant in Canada and shift the production of the CR-V from an Ontario factory to a factory in Mexico.
On top of this, Honda also warned of the risk that a stronger yen might hurt its earnings, while its North American sales slumped in the second quarter.
However, these issues may soon be history. The Honda Civic, Honda Odyssey, Honda Pilot, and other mid-size sedans and compact SUVs are outselling the Camry and Accord that were previously Honda’s best-selling vehicles. Meanwhile, the China market has been successful for Honda, as have the Japanese market.
